Managing Crying

ICON

ICON is an evidence based programme consisting of a series of brief ‘touchpoint’ interventions that reinforce the simple message making up the ICON acronym.

ICON is to help prevent abusive head trauma.

The ICON Programme and intervention is all about helping people who care for babies cope with crying. It provides people with support and advice on ways to cope. The programme also encourages parents and carers to speak to someone if they need support such as family, friends, a midwife, GP or health visitor.

North East Lincolnshire SCP are supporting and endorsing the launch of ICON across the Midwifery, Health Visiting and Primary Care Services in the borough and the Humber region from the 17th December 2020.

Please find a link to the virtual launch event video which includes Dr Suzanne Smith (Programme Founder) presenting ICON and her own research that informs the programme: ICON Launch Video

For more Information visit ICON website ICON – Babies cry you can cope  . There is information and resources for both parents and also health and care professionals for disseminating the ICON message to parents.
