Stalking

Stalking is unwanted or obsessive attention by an individual or group towards another person. Stalking behaviours are related to harassment and intimidation and may include following the victim in person or monitoring them.

Unlike other crimes, which usually involve one act, stalking is a series of actions that occur over a period of time. Stalking can occur over a month or many years, and victims can be any age or gender and from any background.

Stalking by proxy

Stalking can also happen when a person is harassing someone else connected to the individual. Knowing that this behaviour will affect their victim as well as the other people that the person appears to be targeting their actions towards. Family members, friends and colleagues of the victim may be subjected to this.
